Your Eljadida and Azemmour shore excursion from Casablanca begins at Casablanca pier where your guide and driver will meet you.
Sit back and relax for your 60 minutes drive on the motorway to Eljadidida, once known as Mazagan built on the Atlantic coast by the Portuguese in the 16th century. The fortified town is famous for its bastions and ramparts, and recently enlisted as a UNESCO world heritage site.
Inside the ramparts, are old Portuguese residences with pilasters and wrought iron balconies, mosques and churches built next to each other.
During our walk around the ramparts, you will have magnificent views of the bastions, the fishermen harbor, churches and Portuguese residences.
The Portuguese Cistern is the major land mark of Mazagan. It was originally built as an arsenal, then transformed into a water cistern during the siege imposed on the city during periods of war.
You will make a short visit of the Medina on foot before we proceed for a seafood lunch.
After lunch, we will continue to Azemmour. We will first stop at the entrance of the fortified village for a panoramic view on the banks of Oum Rabiaa River. During our exploration walk of the white washed town, we will witness a 16 century Synaguogue which is still standing as a symbol of coexistance between the Jews, Arabs and Berbers of Morocco.
Drive back to Casablanca pier, where your Eljadida & Azemmour shore excursion ends.
