3 days Fes to Marrakech desert tour

DAY 1 | Fes - Merzouga


( Early departures required for winter time in order not to miss the sunset in Erg Chebbi )
Your Fes to Marrakech desert tour will start in the morning: depart Fes towards the fertile plains of Saiss towards the Berber towns of Ifrane and Azrou located in the heart of the middle Atlas Mountians. After crossing the cedar forests, we reach to small town of Midelt, where we will stop for lunch.
Early in the afternoon, we will carry on driving along Ziz River dotted with dates palm trees and fortified Ksours and Kasbahs to Merzouga, where our camel caravan will be waiting for us.
From here we ride our camels through the amazing sand dunes of Erg Chebbi while watching a spectacular sunset with 200m high color changing sand dunes as a backdrop.
We reach our Sahara desert camp located in the middle of nowhere just before darkness. After you settle up in your private tent, dinner will be served under the stars and our nomads hosts will entertain us arounf the camp fire all night.

 

DAY 2 | Merzouga - Boumalne Dades


Optional early wake up to watch the sunrise.
After breakfast, our journey will start with a quick visit of the holy town of Rissani, the birth place of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the Alaouite Dynasty ruling Morocco since early 16 century.
From here, we will continue to the town of Tnighir, where we will enjoy an hour walk in the oasis next to the river bank under the shades of date palm and olive trees all the way to Todgha canyons.
After some time atleisure to admire the scenery, and lunch, we will proceed in the afternoon via the road of 1001 Kasbahs to Boumalne Dades.
Dinner and overnight at your cosy guest house.

 

DAY 3 | Boumalne Dades - Marrakech


After breakfast, we will drive along the valley of the roses to Klaa Mgouna, known for its Damascus Roses plantation. If spring time, we will have the oppotunity to visit a local ladies artisanal rose water distilling factory
Later this moring, we will reach the oasis of Skoura, where we will visit the Kasbah museum of Amridil to learn about the Kasbahs’ architectire, the local Berbers life style, and the amazing irrigation systems used in the oases of Morocco Sahara desert.
We will reach Ouarzazate, also known as the Gate of The Sahara by lunch time.
No visit to thr Sahara desert is complete without a stop at the UNESCO World heritage village of Ait Ben Haddou, famous for its fortifazctions used as a bcak drop for numerous international fashion magazines phot shoots, as well as a set for famous movies shot here from the 1970s.
After some time at leisure on the spot, we will continue to Marrazkech bu crossing the High Atlas Mountains drifing past one Berber village after another.
We arrive Marrakech early evening, and your Fes to Marrakech desert tour will end at your riad or a location of your choice.
