4×4 day trip to the Atlas Mountains

the location of the lake, before its impoundment, was the marabout and the mosque of Lalla Takerkoust, a woman recognized as holy by her goodness and the powers attributed to her. They came to pray and make offerings on his mausoleum, reputed to bring fertility to women in difficulty of procreation. Today this name is given to the village and to a water point upstream of the mountain. The legend says that the source is quoted in the Qur’an, in Sura XVIII of the Cave, which highlights the story of the 7 dormant, young Christians of Ephesus that God plunged into a mystical sleep after they were immured in a cave by Pagans. There are also seven tombs lined up next to the spring, in the village of Amizmiz, which seem to confirm this legend for locals and visitors looking for mystical stories.
